Dogra College of Education Organizes “Community Outreach Programme on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse”.


NSS unit and Population Club of Dogra College of Education under the guidance of IQAC organized Community Outreach Programme on the Occasion of “International Day Against Drug Abuse on 26th of June, 2023 inDollian Village, Bari Brahmana. On this occasion, an Awareness Lecture on the theme “People First :stop stigma and Discrimination, strengthen Prevention” was organized. The resource person on the occasion was Mrs. SarikaKumari, Convener, Population Club, Dogra College of Education. She discussed about various types of intoxicants like Alcohol, Nicotine, Caffeine etc and their effects on present generation. In her lecture, she shared about various categories of illicit drugs like depressants (Opium), Stimulants (Cocaine), Hallucinogens and various synthetic drugs which cause damage to mind and body. During the lecture, the resource person awared the community about the harmful effects of drugs on human health and how to reduce and combat the demand for drugs and other substance abuse which is a menace not only to individual but the family and society at large.

Awareness lecture was attended by 50 people of Dollian village. Approximately 40 student teachers including 10 NSS volunteers also participated in the said event. Prof. Darshana Sharma, Director, Dogra Group of Colleges congratulated the Programme Officer NSS and Convener, Population Club for organizing such type of Community Outreach Programmes for the welfare of the society. Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education appreciated the student teachers for putting valuable efforts for organizing awareness programme. A formal vote of thanks was presented by Ms. ShivangiDhrora who thanked the learned speaker for delivering a thought provoking lecture and local community people for participating in the programme.
