National Webinar on Basics of Capital Market organised by Dogra Degree College

A National Webinar on Basics of Capital Market was organised by Dogra Degree
College, Bari Brahmana in collaboration with Central Depositary Services Limited (CDSL) &
Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) for the students through virtual platform on 22 nd December
2021. The keynote speakers of the session were Mr. Harbinder Singh Sokhi, Manager BSE
IPF, Mr. Inderjeet Singh, Regional Head CDSL & Mr. Sabzar Ahmad, Resource Person CDSL
IPF. The webinar comprised of two sessions; Session one focused on creating a general
awareness on how to invest safely and highlights of the second session were regarding the
usage of depository services. All the faculty and students took part in this online learning
opportunity. The event was organized under the support of Mrs. Bela Thakur, Principal,
Dogra Degree College by Ms. Swati Mahajan, Lecturer in Commerce.
The resource person elaborated on the importance of savings and how savings can
be invested in efficient manner. He also talked about various avenues of investment to the
students including mutual fund share market etc. The second resource person discussed
about investor awareness on depository services. He also mentioned CDSL digital services
like e-Voting, Easi, Smart etc. He described the functioning of capital market in India and
how to enter in the capital market.
The event was a very lively interaction although it ran on an online platform. The
session began at 12 pm on Zoom Meet. It earlier commenced with welcome address to the
speaker of the day by Ms. Shivani Kashyap, Lecturer in Commerce and ended with the
formal vote of thanks by Mr. Rajinder Kumar, Lecturer in Commerce. At the end of the
presentation both teachers and students asked their questions and clarified their doubts on
investment. The speaker welcomed every question and satisfied the curiosity of the
listeners.
It was overall an informative and learning experience for the students and the
faculty. After the session a feedback was filled by attendees to give general comments and
suggestion regarding the lecture.
