“LIVE YOGA SESSION ON INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY ORGANIZED BY DOGRA DEGREE COLLEGE"

Dogra Degree College organized a yoga session to mark “International Yoga Day” in its college auditorium. The celebrations started with lighting of lamp by dignitaries . Special guest Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust in his opening address shared the benefits of practicing Yoga to individual in everyday life and highlighted the potential for customization to suit an individual. He, along with other participants, actively participated in the practice session.

Mr. Kunal Sharma (Yoga Expert & Fitness Trainer), was invited on this occasion to demonstrate and teach Yoga. He also delivered an excellent talk on ‘Yoga for Health and Yoga for Humanity’. This year, the theme for the “International Yoga Day” is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. The implication of the theme is to promote the awareness regarding how the practice of Yoga can help maintain and promote the holistic health of the body, mind and spirit of every human. The resource person enlightened the participants about scientific relevance and importance of Yoga in our life and explained how practicing Yoga perpetually benefits to reduce stress at work and improves body and mind. He interacted with students by briefing different Asanas and Pranayam for ensuring proper functioning of the immune system, Digestive system and for overall health benefits. Students also actively participated in performing various yoga Asanas.

Principal, Dogra Degree College, Mrs. Bela Thakur suggested that International Yoga Day is about integrating body, mind and soul, as yoga is an ancient Indian tradition combining bodily agility with mental relaxation techniques. Broadly, the significance of Yoga Day can be seen in the light of spreading awareness and taking tangible steps, on the issue of well-being, which is the need of the hour.

The whole programme was conducted by Mr. Rishabh Bakshi, Physical Instructor, Dogra Degree College. The session finally closed with playing National Anthem.
