SCREENING OF DOCUMENTARY ON WATER CRISIS IN INDIA TO MARK “WORLD WATER DAY

23 Mar 2023

Dogra Degree College, Bari Brahmana, Samba celebrated "World Water Day" while covering the theme of this year's “World Water Day” i.e. "Accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis" on 23rd March, 2023. This year Dogra Degree College showed documentary on “Water crisis in India” to the students of 1st year under the supervision of Ms. Palak Gupta (Convener Eco Warriors Club).

The focus of this day is for transformative changes to policies and choices to ensure sustainable use of water resources. Due to various factors such as population growth, industrialisation and climate change water resources across the world are under a great pressure not only in terms of quality but also in terms of quantity. Serious problems still exist in some parts of the world concerning access to clean, healthy and sufficient amount of water which is indispensable for life. On the other hand, bulk of waste water generated globally flows back into the ecosystem without being treated or reused, causing not only problems for human health and environment but also economic losses.

The main motive behind the celebration of this day was to encourage the students, who are the young blood and future of the Nation, to contribute in water conservation. Around 50 students participated in the event and took a pledge to save and conserve water. Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust appreciated the initiative taken by Ms. Bela Charak, Principal Dogra Degree College and the faculty members for conducting this event.
