DEMONSTRATION ON SELF DEFENSE TECHNIQUES ORGANIZED BY DOGRA DEGREE COLLEGE

The NCC Unit of Dogra Degree College Bari Brahmana, Samba organized demonstration on self defence techniques for students. The motive behind organizing the event especially for women was that self defence is of utmost importance in the kind of the world we live in today. Women, usually referred as the weaker sex, are considered easier targets. In some parts of our country the case of gender violence are on rise, out of which many go unreported, self-defence for women has become a necessity more than ever.



Self-defence training is a life skill that helps girls to be more aware of their surroundings and be prepared for the unexpected at any time. Through the self defence training, the girls are taught to become psychologically, intellectually and physically strong enough to protect themselves in times of distress.



Keeping this in mind the instructor for the day Mr. Nikhil Jaral and Ms. Neha Jaral National Level Karate player demonstrated self defence techniques. They also guided the students how they can be aware and adopt a defensive strategy under adverse circumstances.



Speaking on the occasion the Principal of the college Mrs. Bela Thakur said that as responsible citizens of an independent country girls need to be more vigilant and need to be updated with the various self defence techniques like karate & kick boxing which they can put to use when in an adverse situation.



The event was attended by the students of Dogra Degree College, Dogra College of Education and Dogra Law College . Students were benefitted from this initiative where in they got firsthand experience on how they can defend themselves in case of adverse situations. The stage was conducted by Mr. Anuragh Thakur student of BA 4th Semester and Mr. Jagjeet Singh student of B.Com 4th Semester and the vote of thanks was moved by Mr. Gulshan Sharma (CTO/ANO), Dogra Degree College



The students of the college had good participatory learning on various self defense techniques. Students gained information about different traditional Unarmed and Armed fighting styles like Karate, Kungfu, Kali, Arnis, etc.



Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust & Prof. Darshana Sharma, Director, DGC & CD appreciated the initiative taken by Principal Dogra Degree College and the faculty members for conducting this event.
