DOGRA GROUP OF COLLEGES HELD MEETING OF ADVISORY COMMITTEE

A meeting of the Advisory Committee of Dogra Group of Colleges was held on 18th April, 2023 at 11:30 am in the Conference Hall of Dogra Educational Complex at Bari Brahmana. The Advisory Committee Meeting was convened by Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust. The committee members who marked their presence in the meeting were - Justice O.P. Sharma, Former Judge of High Court, J&K, Prof. R. D. Sharma, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu (J&K), Prof. S.K. Sharma, Former Information Commissioner, J&K and Former Head & Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Jammu, Sh. A.K. Angurana, IAS (Retd.), Sh. H.A. Sadique, Former Additional Advocate General, High Court, J&K Sh. Chander Shekhar Gupta, Advocate, High Court, J&K.

Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust initiated the deliberations of the meeting with a formal welcome address wherein he shared the mission and vision of Dogra Group of Colleges and highlighted the innovations and best practices of all the three colleges namely Dogra College of Education, Dogra Law College and Dogra Degree College. He appreciated all the members of the advisory board for marking their presence and look forward to their valuable suggestions in the later half of the meeting. The welcome address was followed by the power point presentations of all the three colleges made by the respective principals of the colleges highlighting the common agenda points of the meeting about quality initiatives taken by the colleges, academic and co-curricular activities conducted, result status of the preceding year and positions secured at university level and status of NAAC accreditation. Respective college Principals brought to focus the initiatives being taken by their college and highlighted their major events and university results through visuals. The deliberations of the meeting gave lots of insight how the institutes were currently performing and what initiatives could be taken to take it to greater heights. After submission of the reports of all the colleges the members discussed and deliberated upon various issues which are enumerated as follows: focusing on law college the members suggested to create awareness about the legal issues and give legal aid at local level involving the students and thus enhancing their advocacy skills. Further suggestions included rearguing historic cases at college level. Motivating the faculty and students to participate in research activities and to write research papers was also one of the suggestions. Signing the MOU with reputed institutions outside the state and at international level was also suggested. Working on NAAC in respect to previous cycles suggestions for B.Ed College was recommended.

Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust shared his concern over the delay in grant of permission to start M.Ed programme in Dogra College of Education. He added that delayed inspection from the end of various authorities involved has greatly impacted the admission in B.Ed programmes specifically.


The meeting was winded up by Prof. Darshana Sharma, Director Dogra Group of Colleges by presenting a formal vote of thanks where she thanked each member of the meeting for showing their presence. Other prominent members who marked their presence in the meeting were Kr. Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Member Trustee, Dogra Educational Trust, Prof. V.P. Magotra, Principal Dogra Law College, Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal, Dogra Degree College, Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma, Principal, Dogra College of Education, Mrs. Shuchi Sharma, Senior Assistant Professor Dogra Law College. The meeting concluded with an open invitation to all the advisory committee members to revisit the college premises of all the three colleges at their time of convenience.
