NCC UNIT OF DOGRA DEGREE COLLEGE IN COLLABORATION WITH NSS UNIT OF DOGRA DEGREE COLLEGE ORGANIZED LIVE YOGA SESSION ON INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

NCC unit of Dogra Degree College in collaboration with NSS Unit Organized a session on “International Yoga Day” in the college auditorium on 21st June, 2023 with enthusiastic participation of students, faculty and cadets. The session began with the lighting of traditional lamp.

The session was initially briefed about the essence of yogic exercises on the health of individuals and thereafter held a one-hour practice session of yoga asanas and Pranayam for ensuring immune system, Digestive system and for overall health fitness by Ms. Sonia Sawhney and Er. Siddhant Sawhney (yoga practitioner) who instructed the students about the importance of Yoga for their health and well being. Cadets and students also acted according to yoga's asanas. Principal and other dignitaries also practiced various asanas. Broadly, the significance of Yoga Day can be seen in the light of spreading awareness and taking tangible steps, on an issue of well-being, which is the need of the hour. This year, the theme for the event is “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,' effectively encapsulating our collective aspiration for 'One Earth, One Family, and One Future", emphasizing the importance of maintaining good health.

Principal, Dogra Degree College, Dr. Bela Thakur suggested that International Yoga Day is about integrating body, mind and soul, as yoga is an ancient tradition combining bodily agility with mental relaxation techniques. Broadly, the significance of yoga day can be seen in the light of spreading awareness and taking tangible steps, on issue of well-being, which is the need of the hour.

The session was attended by the Dr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Prof. Darshana Sharma, Director DGC and CD and Dr. Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College and appreciated the team of Dogra Degree College for organizing the Yoga Session.

The session winded up with a formal vote of thanks by Ms. Priyanka Sharma, NSS Programme officer. The whole programme was conducted by Mr. Gulshan Sharma, NCC ANO/CTO. The session finally ended with the National Anthem and distribution of refreshment to everyone present.
