Dogra Degree College on 26 th Nov 2020 organised a Webinar on the topic “Constitution And
Constitutionalism In India” on National Constitution Day. The NCC unit of Dogra Degree
College in collaboration with the Arts department of the college took this initiative where in
PROF. BALJIT SINGH, Head of the Department, Political Science, University of Jammu was
the resource person. While presenting the welcome address Miss Priya Kundal, lecturer in
Political Science, Dogra Degree College remembered Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, also known as
architecture of Indian constitution, for his stellar contribution and socio political understanding.
In his Lecture Prof. Baljit Singh explained that the Indian Constitution is not merely legal
manuscript, rather it is a vehicle that steer the nation to realize the dreams and aspiration of the
people by accommodating and adapting to the changing needs and realities of the times. The
resource person spoke at length about Indian constitution and highlighted that apart from usual
features like Fundamental Right and Distribution of power has special chapter which ensure
pluralism, Positive discrimination and fair opportunity to all the section of society. The Indian
Constitution guarantees freedom of conscience and the rights to profess, practice and propagate
religion to all with the continuity of democracy and integrity of nation. While delivering the vote
of thanks Mr. Rajinder Kumar, Lecturer in Commerce and Associate NCC Officer, Dogra
Degree College thanked the resource person for his enlightening address and added that the
Constitution day is celebrated on 26 th November every year as a tribute to all those great women
and men who worked tirelessly to give India her constitution.
The attendees were impressed by the comprehensiveness, Political Wisdom and Socio-Economic
content shared during the webinar. The proceedings of the webinar concluded with the recitation
of the Preamble of India in unison. Promoting among those who attended the webinar were
